You might have heard us make a bold claim: we are moving beyond only being a car company to be a mobility company.
What does that mean for us at Toyota? Well, of course, we continue to make all Australia’s favourite vehicles and offer Australia’s most extensive Dealership network.
Becoming a mobility company means, both in Australia and as a global brand, that we have some ambitious goals to meet that involve us thinking beyond the roads well-travelled, disrupting traditions in transportation.
We are focused on innovating new ways of moving both now and well into the future. From introducing new connected services and transport-based innovations, to our goal of offering electrified versions of our entire range across the next decade.
Some of our new mobility initiatives have already started to hit our shores, like our new partnership with KINTO Rent, but many many more are coming.

Beyond 2021, Toyota sees autonomous mobility as a service (Autono-MaaS) vehicles like the e-Palette providing a better way of moving across wider society. Helping aging populations and those with mobility challenges traverse cities. Creating a future for transporting goods and providing services. Addressing the growing need for smarter transport solutions.

Earlier this year at the Shanghai motor show our global team unveiled the bZ4X, the first concept car in a new series of battery electric vehicles (BEVs). The bZ in the name stands for Beyond Zero, as this fully electric small SUV symbolises us moving closer to our carbon neutral goal.
While the bZ4X will only go on sale in limited international markets next year, this sleek and futuristic Toyota will be making its way to Australia with timing to be confirmed in due course. Here today is the All-New Mirai, our hydrogen powered electric vehicle, which produces zero emissions besides water.
Hydrogen refuellers available at limited locations across Australia. Please check refueller availability with your Toyota dealer before purchase.
We’re well aware the future of our planet relies on car manufacturers stepping up to the challenge of powering mobility without reliance on fossil fuels. That’s why Toyota has set a global goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
The release of vehicles like the ones above are part of that roadmap, along with our continued release of hybrid options across our existing range. We’re guided by principles that are helping us create better mobility for all: to be greener, cheaper, and offer instant mobility.

Ultimately, when we talk about mobility, it’s not about telling you how to move. It’s about providing more options and more choice of movement that’s accessible to all. There’s no single solution to the challenges of an ever growing society and the demands that it puts on the environment. That’s why our team across the globe are committed to expanding our innovations, like those above, to provide as much flexibility in mobility as possible.
We can’t predict the future but we can accelerate towards a better one. That’s the type of movement we like to see at Toyota!
