There are few families who know more about outback caravanning in Australia than the Gall Boys. Three generations of Galls have run their family caravan business for almost 60 years and since the 90s they’ve been producing a popular adventure series, exploring Australia’s off-the-grid hidden gems.

For their latest getaway, the Gall Boys got the family together to beeline it for the breathtaking Rainbow Beach in the Gympie region of Queensland. Loading their gear in their Toyotas and hitching up their caravans, making sure to be ready for outdoor adventures using an array of Toyota Genuine Accessories.
Top spots often require off-roading through water and mud. Glen Gall knows all too well that hidden obstacles and potholes can put a damper on your plans when crossing a creek and recommends stopping and doing a walk-through, if safe to do so, before ploughing on.

On the beach, driving on sand means the boys needed to adjust their tyre pressure to suit the terrain.
“Before we hit the soft sand we’re just letting the tyres down. Generally you can let them down to 18-20 pound, what this does is extends the footprint of the tyre and, well – it lessens your chances of getting bogged.”
But even with tyres adjusted, beach bogs happen and Glen says the most important accessory to have on a beach driving trip is recovery gear like the Toyota genuine winch.
The boys ran into that very problem when they stopped to check out a nearby landslide and Dave Gall got stuck.
“You pull up, no momentum. To and fro and then you’re straight down into the soft stuff.” he comments.
